FAQ

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers

What types of injuries or conditions can stem cells help treat?

Stem cells can be used to address a wide range of musculoskeletal and degenerative conditions, including tendon and ligament injuries, joint arthritis, cartilage damage, labral or meniscus tears, muscle strains, and chronic back or neck pain. By promoting natural tissue repair and reducing inflammation, they help restore function and mobility without surgery.

Are stem cells effective for skin rejuvenation on the face and body? What
improvements can be expected?

Yes. Stem cells can enhance collagen production, improve elasticity, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin tone and texture. Patients often notice a refreshed, tighter, and more radiant complexion within weeks, with continued improvement over time as the cells stimulate regenerative processes.

Who is qualified to perform stem cell facial rejuvenation injections?

These procedures should only be performed by licensed physicians experienced in regenerative medicine and facial anatomy—such as a board-certified specialist. At Evoque Labs, all procedures are physician-led and medically
supervised to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.

What is the consistency or texture of stem cells used for facial procedures
(e.g., viscous, gel-like, or fibrin-based)?

The consistency depends on the specific preparation. For facial rejuvenation, stem cells are typically processed into a smooth, viscous concentrate that can integrate evenly under the skin. Some preparations include a natural fibrin
scaffold to enhance volume and retention.

Can microneedling be combined with stem cell therapy as an add-on
treatment?

Absolutely. Microneedling with stem cell plasma or lysate is one of the most popular aesthetic combinations. It enhances absorption, boosts collagen stimulation, and accelerates recovery for smoother, firmer skin.

Can stem cells be used for both pain management and aesthetic treatments
like hair or skin rejuvenation?

Yes. The same regenerative properties that help joints and tendons heal also promote rejuvenation of the skin, scalp, and other tissues. We can process and prepare the patient’s cells specifically for either therapeutic or aesthetic use.

How are stem cells extracted from the patient? Is the procedure painful?

Stem cells can be obtained from adipose tissue (fat), bone marrow, or peripheral blood. The best source depends on the patient’s age, body composition, condition being treated, and goals of therapy. The treating physician determines
the optimal approach for each case. The procedure is performed under local
anesthesia and is well-tolerated, with minimal discomfort and virtually no downtime.

Do I need anesthesia? If so, what type?

Most procedures are done with local anesthesia and light sedation if needed. Some procedures, particularly those involving deeper joint or spine injections, may require mild or moderate sedation, but general anesthesia is not necessary.

How long does it take to extract and process the cells?

Extraction typically takes 30–45 minutes, and processing another 60–90 minutes
depending on the protocol. In most cases, treatment is completed the same day.

Is this a same-day procedure?

Yes. For most patients, both extraction and treatment occur on the same day at
Evoque Labs.

Who performs the procedure, and do you offer virtual consultations?

All procedures are performed or directly supervised by Dr. Carlos De La Hoz, MD, a triple board-certified physician in Anesthesiology, Interventional Pain Management, and Regenerative Medicine. Virtual consultations are available for both local and out-of-state patients.

How should I prepare for treatment? Do I need to stop any medications or
follow dietary guidelines?

We recommend avoiding NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) and alcohol for several days before the procedure. Staying hydrated, eating a clean diet, and maintaining good sleep all enhance cell quality. Specific guidance will be provided during
your consultation.

Do I need a follow-up appointment after the procedure?

A follow-up is typically recommended within 2–4 weeks to assess progress and results. Additional follow-ups are scheduled as needed.

How many treatments are required to see results, and how soon can
results be expected?

Many patients experience improvement after just one session. Healing and regeneration continue for several months, with full benefits often visible around 3–6 months post-treatment. Some conditions may benefit from a second session.

How long is the recovery period?

Recovery is typically minimal. Most patients return to normal activity within 24–48 hours. Mild soreness or bruising at the harvest or injection site is possible but temporary.

Are there any major side effects or risks?

Because we use your own cells, risks are very low. Mild swelling, bruising, or soreness can occur. Serious complications are rare when performed by trained professionals.

Which health conditions would prevent me from undergoing stem cell
therapy?

Patients with active cancer, severe infections, or uncontrolled medical conditions may not be good candidates. A medical evaluation ensures each patient’s safety and eligibility.

Can I undergo the procedure if I am pregnant or trying to become
pregnant?

Stem cell procedures are not recommended during pregnancy. We advise
waiting until after delivery and medical clearance.

What is the average price for facial rejuvenation and pain management
treatments?

Facial rejuvenation typically ranges from $4,500–$6,500, while pain management procedures range from $6,000–$8,500, depending on the number of areas treated and complexity.

How much do you charge for cell harvesting? Is it billed separately from
the injection?

Yes. Harvesting and injection are billed separately. The harvesting fee generally starts around $1,000–$1,500, depending on volume and intended use.

Do you offer microneedling or IV therapy as add-ons, and how are these
priced?

Yes. Microneedling with stem cell lysate starts around $1,200–$1,500, and IV regenerative infusions start around $650, with options like NAD+, antioxidants, or stem cell support formulations.

What types of IV infusions are available (e.g., NAD+, nutrient blends, stem
cell support)?

We offer NAD+, amino acid, antioxidant, and longevity support blends that complement stem cell recovery and overall cellular health.

Do you offer financing options?

Yes. We partner with select medical financing providers to make regenerative treatments more accessible. Flexible payment plans are available.

Which stem cells are better: from fat or bone marrow?

Both sources are effective, but adipose (fat-derived) stem cells tend to yield a higher number of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and are easier to collect. However, research suggests that in patients under 65 years of age or those with
low body fat, bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) may offer higher-quality regenerative potential for orthopedic and musculoskeletal applications. At Evoque Labs, both methods are available and selected based on patient age,
body composition, and clinical goals.

Are my own stem cells better than donor or umbilical cord cells? Can I use
stem cells from relatives?

At Evoque Labs, we use your own (autologous) stem cells because they are living, biologically matched, and free from immune or infectious risks. Many allogenic products marketed as “umbilical cord stem cells” actually contain no
viable cells, and quality control is inconsistent. Studies have found that some of these products can be contaminated or contain only growth factors without living regenerative cells. Using your own cells ensures safety, purity, and consistent results supported by clinical evidence.

How long can stored stem cells remain viable?

When cryopreserved properly, stem cells can remain viable for decades, maintaining their regenerative potential for future use.

How far in advance should I schedule my appointment?

We recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance, especially for combined procedures or out-of-state patients.

Where are Evoque Labs procedures performed, and is the facility
accredited?

Procedures are performed in our accredited medical facility in Florida, equipped with a sterile laboratory and advanced imaging and processing systems.

If I travel from out of state, how many days should I plan to stay?

Most patients can travel the next day, but for convenience and monitoring, we recommend staying locally for 24–48 hours post-procedure.

What are the main safety standards and certifications for Evoque Labs
procedures?

Evoque Labs adheres to strict FDA-compliant protocols for autologous (your own) cell use and maintains sterile, medical-grade laboratory standards. All equipment and processes meet U.S. regulatory and ethical guidelines.

What is the Muse cell, and is there scientific evidence showing it works
better than traditional stem cells?

Muse cells are a specific type of stress-enduring stem cell identified in research. While promising in early studies, they are not yet clinically available for patients. Evoque Labs focuses on evidence-based, proven autologous methods currently
supported by human data.

Many people travel abroad for stem cell procedures. Why choose to do it in
the U.S. instead?

Under new Florida regulations, advanced stem cell procedures can now be performed legally and safely in state-licensed centers. Patients benefit from U.S. safety standards, medical oversight, and the ability to follow up locally—all without the uncertainty of medical tourism.

How much fat or bone marrow needs to be extracted for an effective
treatment?

Typically 50–100cc of fat or 30–60cc of bone marrow is sufficient, depending on the treatment area and patient goals.

If I have leftover stem cells, can they be stored and used later?

Yes. Evoque Labs offers cryopreservation so your stem cells can be securely stored for future treatments, allowing you to access younger, healthier cells as you age.
